Chicago Public Schools Hepatitis Education and Immunization Pilot Project

In collaboration with the Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Department of Public Health and partly funded by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), we developed a pilot program called “The ABC’s of Hepatitis”.   The curriculum, written was by GDCH,  designed to educate students and their parents or guardians on the Hepatitis B virus, its risk factors and prevention methods including an immunization program.

Hepatitis – Train the Trainer

GDHC holds “Train the Trainer” workshops on Hepatitis A,B, and C for health care professionals and community health advocates. Past work shops have been held in conjunction with Health Consortium of Illinois, Chicago Department of Public Health, and the Black Nurses Association.

Illinois Hepatitis Task Force

GDCH in collaboration with Health Consortium of Illinois, sponsored in part by GlaxoSmithKline has developed a progressive task force and programs on viral hepatitis prevention. The primary goal of the task force is to promote Hepatitis A and B vaccinations at Chicago Department of Public Health clinics and private practices among African American adults. In addition, GDHC and it’s stakeholders of risk factors for Hepatitis A and B among this target group.
